I appeared in NHK's "Seishun no Pops TV Show."
I was very happy to see Mr. Satoshi Kuramoto after a long time, who is a scenario writer and was appearing as one of the main guests. It was decided that I was going to sing "Un Homme et une Femme" at Mr. Kuramoto's request. But I had not sung this song before, because I had always enjoyed it as screen music. It was a big mistake to think, "This will be no problem because I just have to say 'da-ba-da-ba-da' most of the time." The rest of the actual lyrics are all in French. I can speak Spanish, but since it was French, I needed to practice a lot. Recently I have found myself indebted to a tape recorder quite often on NHK jobs. This time, I had someone who was a French native record the lyrics, and had a lesson every night.
But let me tell you, after the rehearsal that day, when Mr. Kuramoto asked me, "Judy, do you speak French?" that made me feel good for a moment. It was worth having those lessons.
By the way, I could not mention it in the program, but my first appearance in a movie was a Nikkatsu Corporation movie title, "Wolf That Has Come Back." It was Mr. Kuramoto's work, produced by Ms. Takiko Mizunoe, music by Mr. Keitaro Miho, and costumes by Ms. Hanae Mori. What a gathering of truly talented members!
