French Nails
It was 22 years ago that I saw 'French Nails' for the first time. A friend of mine in Hawaii was wearing French Nails then.
She painted the entire nail in a natural color, and just the tip in white. It had a big impact on me.
After that, I began to do my own nail art by watching other people. It was called French tone at the time, but my way of doing, Judy-style, was to paint the tip red, or make it a combination of blue and white, and change the color no matter where I was, whether I was in a car or on a train. The passion that I poured into my nails was quite something.
One time I tried doing my nails in stripes! I painted yellow, light green, light blue, and pink side-by-side, and it was real gorgeous nail art. When I returned in Taiwan with those nails, the newspaper headlines read, "Judy's rainbow-color nails," and I even had an interview on nail art.
It was about this time when the first manicurists appeared in Aoyama.
Even now, as long as there are no special restrictions caused by my job, I enjoy nail art by discussing this or that in a nail salon. Well, except that it is not as colorful as it used to be. But still a little flashier than normal, ..... in moderation, of course. (Ha ha ha.)
By the way, the colors I am wearing right now are French tones, with pink and the light green of young leaves. In the summer, I wear sandals and the toenails show as well, then it's reverse French. I paint them in colors according to the clothes I am wearing for the next singing program.
